In a recent turn of events, the remarks made by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the designers behind Dolce & Gabbana on the LGBT community have started a boycott movement trending on Twitter. Reportedly, the duo made comments on the method of surrogating which is used by gay couples for having kids, and that sparked a movement against them by well-known celebs of Hollywood.
Reportedly, Dolce & Gabbana owners stated to a magazine, “We oppose gay adoption. Sir Elton John who was outraged by the remarks initiated the movement. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed. You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri (for) rent, semen chosen from a catalog. The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”
Out of all the remark of calling children ‘synthetic’ hit Sir Elton John who started the #Boycott Dolce Gabbana movement on Twitter. Elton posted a photo of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana saying, “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic’. And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #Boycott Dolce Gabbana.”
Several celebrities then joined Elton John in his movement like Courtney Love,Ricky Martin, and Martina Navratilova. Not just celebs but people all over the world are outraged by these absurd remarks and have taken an initiative to boycott one of the leading designer brands in the world, Dolce & Gabbana.
